A transportation-centric candidate forum for this fall’s Alachua County Commission races is coming up on Monday.
Gainesville Citizens for Active Transportation and the Gainesville Cycling Club are hosting the forum, which will focus on active transportation issues like transit and bicycling as well as pedestrian and disability access, according to a news release.
The forum will be held starting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Santa Fe College Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED) Building, which is located at 530 W. University Ave in Gainesville.
Commissioner Lee Pinkoson is running for re-election and will face off against fellow Democrat Harvey Ward Jr. in the August primary. There is also a write-in candidate, Harold Joseph Patterson, but no Republican challenger.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Susan Baird has decided not to run for re-election so her District 4 seat is up for grabs. Democrats Ken Cornell and Kevin Thorpe will run against each other in the primary, with the winner competing against Republican John Martin in November.
