Alachua County has the highest per capita spending among Florida’s 67 counties based on the state budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year, according to a news report from The Florida Current.

Last month, the Florida Legislature issued a report on how much money the various counties each have in the state budget for a myriad of projects, although there are some caveats involved that make direct comparisons difficult, according to the article.

The Florida Current did an analysis that showed Alachua County ranked highest with $4,393.17 in per capita spending. Almost 90 percent of the $1.11 billion the county is expected to receive is designated for the University of Florida.

Leon County, home of UF rival Florida State University, came in third place in terms of per capita spending with $3,162.17. That county is slated to get $891.2 million, more than 58 percent of which will go to FSU.
