Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1579 carried signs with messages “Fair Pay Fair Contract.” Standing along University Avenue, the union members then began a call and response chant of : “What do we want?” “Fair pay!” “When do we want it?” “Now!”
Members of the union packed the meeting auditorium and a spoke during public comment about the wages issue. One RTS driver, Antonio Cruz, told commissioners he was nearing retirement “but take care of the people behind me.”
