In a recent analysis by WalletHub, a personal finance social network, Gainesville was ranked as the 20th best college city in the nation for 2014.
WalletHub released 2014’s Best & Worst College Cities & Towns in America earlier this month in which it ranked 280 cities and towns in the U.S. based on nearly two dozen metrics, such as cost of living and crime rates, according to a news release.
Gainesville ranked 20th overall but came in 3rd among the medium-sized cities. It came in 6th in terms of the cost of higher education, 20th for the number of students per capita and 23rd for the quality of higher education.
Our town scored considerably lower in certain other metrics, though. Gainesville was ranked 113th for the adjusted cost of living for young people who live there, for example. Check out the full report, linked to above, for more details.
For the record, Tallahassee was ranked No. 69 overall but came in at No. 25 among medium-sized cities.
