The Florida Association of Counties is developing a new five-year strategic plan and will host its first regional meeting of the year for this process in Gainesville this Friday.
The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m. in the Alachua County Administration Building at 12 SE 1st Street in downtown Gainesville.
The strategic plan will set the direction for FAC for the coming years, and the organization wants to get input from county officials throughout the state during the process.
Regional meetings like the one in Alachua County on Friday are meant to provide a forum for commissioners to offer their suggestions for the plan, according to FAC’s website. Several are scheduled for the coming weeks.
This meeting has been placed on the county’s meetings list even though it isn’t an official County Commission meeting so that if multiple Alachua County commissioners attend, they’ll be free to speak, Communications Coordinator Mark Sexton wrote in an email on Monday.
